Just a kid who grew up being told she sucked at art, but enjoyed it anyway.
Fair warning: Commenting is a privilege, not a right. If it is abused, the privilege will be revoked. Do not push me.
I hope art can help us have difficult discussions about things we can't talk about in our normal lives. There is so much that we all need to deal with, but we all have different problems! So we we can learn from each other! I grew up in a depressed rural town, in a depressed rural county, in a state too corrupt to care. I have tried to commit suicide twice, before I learned enough about religion to be comfortable embracing it. I grew up keenly aware of the un-sustainability of the global neoliberal system. Now look, it is coming down around our ears. Shed tears for the past if you must, but then leave it in the past. This is a place for artwork, which is all about imagination. Let us use our imaginations to construct the future: taking inspiration from the past, but always remembering that it can never truly be recreated.
